Privacy
Your draft stays in this browser tab. We do not send it to a server, save it to browser storage, or offer draft recovery.
What the browser remembers
The site stores only your light or dark appearance preference in localStorage. Clearing this site's browser data removes that preference. We do not use tracking cookies or accounts. We count page visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies.
Requests outside your draft
The hosting server receives ordinary page requests, including your IP address and browser information. The hosting stack may keep access and security logs. Those requests do not contain your draft.
The site serves its own fonts. No request leaves this site to fetch a typeface, so no font provider sees that you visited. The only outside requests are the cookieless analytics beacon and, on the Mac page, the license service.
Copying and leaving
COPY TEXT writes your draft to your device clipboard only when you ask. Your operating system or clipboard manager may keep that copy. Leaving the room, reloading, or closing the tab discards the draft from this app.
Mac app
The Mac app keeps writing in memory on your Mac. Your first 3 writing sessions are free. After that a license covers 2 computers for $4.99 once, with a 14-day refund. Free updates included. It stores settings and a local trial session counter in its settings file on the Mac. That counter is not sent anywhere. Activating and checking a license sends license details and a random installation identifier to the license service, not your draft.
Checkout uses the payment provider's page under its privacy policy. The provider shares your email address and order details with us for support and refunds; we do not receive your card details. Downloading the app makes an ordinary request to the server hosting the disk image.
Updates are opt-in. No check runs unless you turn on Check for updates automatically in Settings or choose Check for Updates… from the app menu. A check downloads one small version file from writeitdown.app; the request carries no identifier and nothing about your writing. A downloaded update waits in the Mac's cache until it is installed.
Mac waitlist
The Mac waitlist is closed. If you previously joined it, Trefoil Studio stores your email address and the time you sent it on the writeitdown.app server, and nothing else. The address is used for one email when Write It Down for Mac can be bought, and for nothing else. It is never shared with third parties. Write to contact@trefoilstudio.com at any time to be removed.
